One of the new features in Photoshop CC 2019 (version 20.0) is the ability to distribute objects (layers) with even spacing in Photoshop. Finally! While this feature was available in other Adobe programs like Illustrator https://www.designeasy.co/2012/07/distribute-objects-with-custom-spacing.html and InDesign, it was missing feature in Photoshop for unknown reasons. Personally, I was using custom scripts to distribute layer spacing but not anymore, the feature has arrived to make things easier when designing in Photoshop.

How to distribute objects with even spacing

Distribution options are available from Layer > Distribute > choose an option and from the Options bar when Move tool is active. New options in Photoshop CC 2019 are Distribute vertically and Distribute horizontally which will distribute layers/objects with even spacing regardless of objects dimensions.

There are two ways to use distribution options from the Options bar:

• From the Options bar click on the icon. 
• The second option is to click on 3 dots (...) to display pop-up panel with all alignment and distribution options.

Distribution options to distribute objects with even spacing are highlighted with red rectangle. When the Move tool is active and 3 or more layers selected in the Layers panel you can click on Distribute horizontally/vertically or click on 3 dots to open pop-up menu then select distribution option.

To use new distribution options to distribute objects (layers) with even spacing do the following:

• Select 3 or more layers/layer groups in the Layers panel. You can use the Move tool to select objects/layers/layer groups.
• Go to Layer > Distribute > Horizontally or Vertically or click on distribution icons in the options bar (Move tool must be active to see those options). For even spacing between layers/objects regardless of objects dimensions use Distribute vertically or Distribute horizontally.

Steps to distribute layers/objects with even spacing:

• Select layers/objects which you want to distribute
• Go to Layer > Distribute > Horizontally/Vertically or with the Move tool active click on icon Distribute vertically or Distribute horizontally in the options bar
