One of the new features in Photoshop CC 2019 (version 20) is live blending mode preview while blend mode is selected (highlighted) in blending modes drop-down list. Blending modes are one of the most useful and most used features in Adobe Photoshop. After trying new feature the first question which comes to my mind was: how is possible that we didn't have this feature before? This is so natural and time-saving feature that I can not believe it wasn't implemented at least 10 years earlier.

Small improvement someone may say. It is actually a huge improvement from my point of view. Can you remember how much time you have already wasted without this feature? How many times you have manually cycled through a couple of items from blending mode list before choosing one? I believe I have wasted hundreds of hours so far to select blending mode by clicking or using keyboard shortcuts.

How to use blending mode live preview

For now (version 20.0.0) live blending mode preview is available in the Layers panel and Layer Style dialog. To use live preview do the following:

• Select layer in the Layers panel.
• Click on blending mode drop-down list to expand it.
• Hover mouse over blend mode name or use keyboard shortcuts up/down arrow keys and you will see an instant preview with selected (highlighted) blend mode applied.
